While there are a large variety of charities established to help the Caribbean recover and rebuild, we chose charities near and dear to our hearts–places we’ve been and fell in love with, islands that have provided our family with great memories, people whom we trust will do everything in their power to help the people of the Caribbean. We looked at charities that would maximize our donations to ensure the funds have a direct impact on those in need, such as providing immediate relief through food and water, paying the salaries of local employees, providing solar lights and comfort items, rebuilding structures, cleaning and replanting beaches, and more. With that being said, these are the charities and funds to which we will be donating the profits from our clothing sales.

Virgin Gorda & Bitter End Yacht Club Staff Irma Relief Fund

Virgin Gorda & Bitter End Yacht Club Staff Irma Relief Fund

“On September 6, 2017 Hurricane Irma swept through the Caribbean causing mass destruction throughout the region. In response to the overwhelming outreach we have received from our guests who want to help, we set up a fund to support the employees of Bitter End who have been impacted by the storm and the Virgin Gorda community rebuild their lives. BEYC and the community of Virgin Gorda have been devastated by the storm. Bitter End was founded as a family resort and yacht club in 1973 and is one of the largest employers on Virgin Gorda with over 175 employees. Over the last forty years, the spirited team that works at Bitter End has become an extended family for many all over the world. We are all heartbroken that our employees, their families and the entire Virgin Gorda community have lost so much in Hurricane Irma. We need your support to help them rebuild their lives and the Virgin Gorda community. Please make a donation today. Every dollar donated will go towards BEYC Caribbean employees who were impacted by Hurricane Irma and the community of Virgin Gorda. “

“First, I want to say thank you for your support so far. I’ve been in conversation with many other people who have also been doing fundraisers. Some have collected money and others are collecting items. This is all wonderful. The infrastructure on all the islands is so badly damaged, that it will be six months to a year before simple things like water and electricity will be available for many people.

I do want you to know that the money that is being donated to my fundraiser is going to support the needs of specific persons and families and will be tailored to their needs. For example, I’ve been speaking to my friends in Jost Van Dyke. They have lost everything and are receiving very little assistance from anyone. So I would like to personally see to it that the things they need the most are hand-delivered to them. They and others are giving me lists of things they need right now, but will also need six months to a year from now. Some examples of items being requested are things like air mattresses so they have something to sleep on and lanterns so they can see past sunset, which at this time of year comes around 6 p.m.”
